Dear Friends,

Christmas Without Cancer (CWC) is a local 501(c)3 NFP that was started 21 years ago by an oncology nurse, Gerri Neylon. Gerri was moved by the struggles of families that were undergoing cancer treatments and the physical, emotional, and financial expenses of the disease. The organization began by “adopting” a family affected by cancer during the Christmas season. CWC provided the family with gifts and gift cards to offset their financial needs.

Unfortunately, cancer strikes families all year, and assistance is needed daily. The goal of CWC is to help families, not only at Christmas, but throughout the year. When a family member receives a cancer diagnosis, any loss of income has implications on the entire family.

Since founding, CWC has helped thousands of local southland families. 2023 was a record year for CWC. Through the support of many, CWC was able to help 470 families throughout the year and 116 families at Christmas through:

  • $218,457.46 in financial assistance for mortgage/rent, tuition, & household expenses
  • $117,105.03 to provide much needed holiday joy
  • $56,250 in gift cards for gas, medications, & groceries

CWC will be hosting our 4-person Scramble Golf Outing on Saturday, June 29th at Old Oak Country Club with a 1:30pm shotgun start. A dinner will take place afterwards at Barraco’s in Evergreen Park at 6:30pm.

Participants will be able to register on our website. Our goal is to raise the much-needed funds that will enable us to continue our mission of helping families fighting this disease during challenging times. We are asking for your support to achieve our goal with a sponsorship or in-kind donation (deadline June 1, 2024). Any donation you or your company could make would be greatly appreciated

On behalf of the Christmas Without Cancer team and the local cancer patients and families who will benefit from your generosity, we thank you for your consideration!

Christmas Without Cancer (EIN #32-0299001) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allows by law. No goods or services were received in consideration of this contribution.
