A Mother’s Love

It is said that a mother’s love is like no other.  The lengths a mom will go for her children is simply unmatched.  Here at Christmas Without Cancer, we see the fight a mom will battle every day.  We witness CWC moms beat stage 4 cancer, raise a family on their own, go through painful treatments that are life threatening, and so much more for the love they have for their children.  These women inspire us every day and deserve to be celebrated!

Here’s To Strong Women:  May We Know Them, May We Be Them, May We Raise Them

Mother’s Day Brunch

Christmas Without Cancer had the honor of hosting our 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, April 13th.  While this is only our second year hosting this event, it has quickly become one of our favorites!  18 very special moms and their guests joined us alongside several CWC committee members and the James & Sons crew.  Each honoree’s family has been affected by the devastations of cancer.

Our Mother’s Day Brunch was actually inspired by one of our Christmas recipients in 2023.  One mother’s wish for Christmas was to have a necklace that represented her children.  We immediately reached out to our friends at James & Sons Fine Jewelers to make this wish happen and they designed a gorgeous birthstone necklace!  Fast forward a couple of months – James & Sons reached out expressing how inspired they were from this one mom and the rest is history!

Our Local Supporters

This day couldn’t have been possible with some incredible local businesses who made the day extra special!  When you are looking for places to shop or eat, please consider these supporters of CWC!

  • Event Partner: James & Sons Fine Jewelers of Orland Park designed and donated custom necklaces unique to each mom.  Each necklace featured either birthstones or initials of the mom’s children!  James & Sons features a wide selection of beautiful jewelry and watches for every budget.
  • Contributor: Fasan Florist kindly reached out to CWC after seeing our post on social media about centerpieces for the event.  Maggie eagerly embraced the chance to craft gorgeous floral arrangements for the table decor which each honoree was able to take home at the end of the event.
  • Contributor: Sweet Southern Bakery generously provided a tray of delicious desserts for us to all enjoy.  Furthermore, each CWC mom received an adorable to go box filled with yummy treats to share with their family.
  • Contributor: Photography by Angel is no stranger to CWC!  The owner, Angel, continuously goes the extra mile for our organization.  For this event, Angel offered a certificate for photography services to each mom.
  • Contributor: O’Hara and Friends Salon consistently reaches out to see what we have planned next. They eagerly embraced the chance to gift each mom a gift card for the second consecutive year.
  • Venue & Contributor: Franklin’s Public House was a new venue for us this year, but did not disappoint!  Owner, Mike, was kind enough to donate a gift card to each honoree. If you’re looking for delicious food and drinks with a friendly staff, Franklin’s in Palos Heights is your go to.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms out there!  We hope you feel extra loved on this special day.

With Love,

The Christmas Without Cancer Team
